too many people screaming on MTV
she says life is too short to wear high heeled shoes
but she’s been known to hit the m&m’s
when she gets the blues

but she prefers to go to bed at night
as who she really is

now she calls her friends the women

where once they were a threat
in the race to get a man
now she leaves her man to be with them
as often as she can

It used to be she couldn’t sleep
With dishes in the sink
But now she doesn’t give a darn
What anybody thinks

She hasn’t used a stove
Since the Reagan administration
The only thing she makes for dinner now
Is reservations

if a symphony comes on
while she’s driving in her car
she pretends she’s in a film about her life
and she’s the star

Though she’s out for groceries
to find a bite to eat
In her movie she’s arriving
for a date with destiny

she grabs a t-bone steak
and a chocolate cake
convinced that there’s a film crew
watching every move she makes

she dreams of signing autographs
beneath the bright marquee
she dreams of what she’ll wear
when she’s an oscar nominee
